Product Review: Maybelline New York Mineral Power Concealer – Mineral Cosmetics

It is time for another concealer review! I love mineral makeup so I am excited to try makeup from a drugstore brand’s mineral makeup line. The drugstore brand I am talking about is Maybelline.
Maybelline is a very popular brand so I am very happy that they offer more natural mineral makeup options. Thus, I decided to review their concealer to test it out and see how it performs. The concealer that I will review by them is The Maybelline New York Mineral Power Concealer.

Cost: $9 – $20 each depending on where you buy it.

Ingredients: This concealer contains natural ingredients including glycerin, silica, and matricaria flower extract. This concealer was made without oil (so it is suppose to be oily skin-friendly), talc, or fragrance.

Here is the full ingredient list

Water/Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Glycerin, Sorbitan Isostearate, Propylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Ozokerite, Phenoxyethanol, Magnesium Sulfate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Methylparaben, Acrylates Copolymer, Alumina, Butylparaben, Aluminum Hydroxide, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Calcium Pantetheine Sulfonate, Tocopherol, Dextran Sulfate, Silica, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, May Contain (+/-): CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77499, CI 77492, CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), Mica.

Consistency: This concealer has a thin consistency that is not watery, but not thick either, so it is a creamy consistency.

Eye Area: This concealer is moisturizing for the eye area and it does reduce the appearance of dark circles. However, it does also show lines underneath the eyes.

Smell: No fragrance or perfume. The smell is hard to describe, but the closest would be a clay smell.

Coverage: This concealer is almost full coverage. I got more coverage when I layered it and blended it in using a beauty blender, but even when applied this way, the coverage still was not full coverage.

Smile Lines/Fine Lines: This concealer did settle into my smile lines.

Dry Skin: This concealer is fine for dry skin; I recommend moisturizing your skin first before applying your makeup though since it makes the makeup look smoother and apply better.

Final Thoughts: I like that this concealer is a mineral concealer and that it moisturizes the eye area. Since this concealer also has great coverage, I think it would be great to mix with your foundation. Since this concealer doesn’t work well for lines in the face though, I don’t recommend it for those with mature skin. Otherwise, I do think that this is a good concealer so I do recommend it.
